Families for Enrollment

On Wednesday, July 18, 2007 our group met for the second time. We met in Eugene and had 17 people attend. We discussed having a presence at the Pow Wow and sending out a mailing to notify Grand Ronde tribal members of the impending vote for enrollment change.

Please let us know if you will be able to attend a future meeting and if you can assist with the mailings. You can contact us at grenrollment@gmail.com. We will contact you by email if possible.

Our purpose is to make sure that all Grand Ronde tribal members know about the vote. We want to make sure that all the members know how the enrollment vote of 1999 caused such damage in many families. We want you to also know the issues we will be voting on in the near future and how this will also effect your family.

If this amendment is to pass - we need to get more people involved. You don't have to agree to all that is written. You just have to decide whether it would be better to pass or to leave it unchanged.

There are some awful rumors out there. A member told me tonight that this will open the door to 2500 people right away. Because the language (that he heard) counted blood from all tribes.

Plus, how do you combat a campaign letter that tells so many untruths.

if it were up to me i would of stopped enrolling right after 1/4, i want to know how many people this affected knew about the tribe before the casino. we will soon end up like the cherokees and choctaws where they enroll everyone. a concerned tribal member against changing current enrollment policies.

Hi anonymous,
I wish I'd noticed this discussion possibility earlier!
I for one did not know that my grandmother was enrolled in Grand Ronde before Dec. 2000. I did not know that my father was a member of Grand Ronde before Dec 2000.
I had for an erollment type without the benefits. So that the "sharing" factor would not be a reason for members to be against an enrollment change.
1/4 blood - I don't think there would be anyone left. And if it was just Grand Ronde blood (geographical tribe inclusion) and not "all" tribal blood there may not be any at all left. I'm reading the old census rolls which list tribe and degree of Indian blood. There is a lot of funny math going on or the census takers had it all wrong.
